Jennifer Unterreiner is a physical therapist at Performance Therapy at Providence St John’s Health Center that specializes in both oncology and orthopedic rehabilitation. After graduating from the University of California, San Francisco with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy, she has gone on to pursue board certification in Orthopedics, as well as advanced certification in Lymphedema Management, allowing her to have a unique perspective about treating the entire person, instead of just the diagnosis. She has also provided community outreach lectures on balance and falls in the elderly, helping to improve home safety and decreasing risk of falls.
She received her advanced training in lymphedema management from the Norton School of Lymphatic Therapy in 2015 and has been working with patients with lymphedema and patients with breast cancer since then to help manage the side effects of associated surgeries and treatments to help them return to their normal life and activities. She also works closely with the Cancer Support Community of Los Angeles to provide educational seminars and lectures to their members regarding the importance of exercise during and after oncology treatment to facilitate improved quality of life and decreasing fatigue. Past lecture topics include “Cancer and Exercise” and “Managing Fatigue”.
