John Jalas

M.D., Ph.D., FCAP

Assistant Professor of Pathology

Dr. John Jalas (M.D., Ph.D., FCAP) is a fellowship-trained general surgical pathologist and associate professor at the John Wayne Cancer Institute. He has special interests in hematopathology, gastrointestinal pathology, genitourinary pathology, and thoracic pathology, among other areas, and is actively involved with research projects in the Bilchik, Wilson and Onugha laboratories.

After graduating from the University of Texas-Tyler and the University of Minnesota, he completed an anatomic and clinical pathology residency at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) before completing subspecialty fellowship training in surgical pathology at UCSF. He has been practicing general surgical pathology at Providence Saint John’s Health Center since 2010.
