Nurse Practitioner

Karen Hsu Patterson, MSN, FNP-C, ACHPN

Supportive & Palliative Care

Karen believes strongly in compassionate, patient-centered care that reflects patients’ and families’ wishes for meaningful quality of life. Before becoming a nurse practitioner, Karen worked as a nurse in adult critical care, where she often encountered the effects of late-stage and chronic disease. This experience led to an initial interest in primary care, with efforts focused on disease prevention and effective management of chronic disease, and an additional interest in supportive and palliative care to help patients and families through serious illness. She enjoys empowering patients to take an active role in their own health management, and strives for mutually collaborative patient-provider relationships. She also enjoys learning about the intersection of health, spirituality, and the arts. In her free time, Karen enjoys being with friends and family, especially with her husband and young son. Her hobbies and interests include piano, singing, and musical theater.
