Neurosurgical evaluation of a mobile CT scanner Clinical Protocol

xCAT IQ, manufactured by Xoran Technologies (Ann Arbor, MI) is an FDA-approved mobile Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CT) system to be evaluated for clinical use. The new device will be tested for ease of use, image usefulness and practical needs of a mobile CT.

The primary benefit is to easily obtain CT imaging of the head at the point of care, instead of transporting the critical patient to a conventional scanner. Other benefits are the ability to obtain intra-operative imaging prior to procedure completion, reduced radiation, ease of use and ease of access to imaging. The images from the mobile scanner will not be used for a primary diagnosis.
