An Amazing Leader and Advocate for Women’s Health
The 2025 Power of Pink luncheon, hosted by Saint John’s Health Center Foundation, brought together over 400 supporters at the Skirball Cultural Center for a day of inspiration, philanthropy, and unity. This annual event celebrates the life-saving work of the Margie Petersen Breast Center (MPBC), which has been a beacon of hope for women facing breast cancer for more than 30 years. From boutique shopping and luxury auctions to heartfelt patient stories, the event underscored the power of community in advancing breast cancer research, treatment, and support services.
This year’s program spotlighted a special honoree: Los Angeles County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath, who received the Ruth Weil Spirit of Hope Award for her unwavering commitment to women’s health and her advocacy for Saint John’s. In her remarks, Horvath praised the MPBC’s comprehensive approach to care, which includes cutting-edge clinical trials, a breast surgical oncology fellowship, and holistic support for patients’ emotional and spiritual well-being. “I have seen how St. John’s has shown up in unique ways to support women who are on this journey. I can’t help but advocate for a place that takes women’s health so seriously,” she said, emphasizing the importance of investing in institutions that prioritize both science and compassion.
“It’s about making sure that women really understand that their needs are being prioritized.”
– Lindsey Horvath
Horvath’s leadership extends beyond healthcare. As Chair of the LA County Board of Supervisors, she has spearheaded initiatives to support communities affected by the devastating Palisades Fire and other climate-related disasters. Her work in launching the Blue Ribbon Commission on Climate Action & Fire-Safe Recovery and driving reforms in homelessness services reflects her deep commitment to public service. At Power of Pink, she drew a powerful connection between the resilience of breast cancer survivors and the broader strength of Los Angeles communities facing adversity.

The event’s proceeds directly support these efforts, including the fellowship program that trains the next generation of breast surgical oncologists and the expansion of patient-centered services that make healing possible. In attendance were sisters, Christine Parra and Jessica Rosales, who were featured in a moving testimonial and friends of Lindsey Horvath and Santa monica Mayor, Lana Negrete, both have been diagnosed and treated for breast cancer at the Margie Petersen Breast Center. Together they shared their amazing journey and personal challenges, inspiring others.
As the luncheon concluded, guests left with a renewed sense of purpose and solidarity. The Power of Pink is not just a fundraiser—it’s a movement that honors courage, fosters innovation, and builds a healthier future for all. With leaders like Lindsey Horvath championing its mission, Saint John’s continues to be a pillar of hope in Los Angeles and beyond.
