Free Oncology Nutrition Webinars
Providence, Saint John’s offers free oncology nutrition classes.

Free monthly webinars are now available to help you understand and prepare for your post-treatment care. Take advantage of professional dietary guidance, which can improve your recovery and help manage treatment-related side effects.

Oncology nutrition focuses on providing dietary counseling for cancer patients. It involves understanding nutrition goals to help manage the side effects of treatment, support the body’s immune system, and maintain overall health and well-being. We want to ensure patients are receiving adequate nutrients to support their treatment and entire recovery.

Cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy can cause side effects like nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite, which can lead to malnutrition and weight loss. Proper nutrition can help mitigate these challenges and maintain your strength and energy levels. Additionally, good nutrition supports the immune system, which is important for fighting infections and supporting the body’s recovery process during cancer treatment.

What are some sample questions I could ask the dietitian during a webinar?

  1. What foods can help me manage nausea and vomiting during chemotherapy?
  2. How can I maintain a healthy weight and get enough nutrients during my cancer treatment?
  3. Are there any dietary supplements I should consider taking to support my immune system?
  4. How can I improve hydration while dealing with side effects like diarrhea or mouth sores?
  5. Are there any specific foods or nutrients that may help reduce my risk of developing treatment-related complications?
