Matias Bustos, Ph.D. of Saint Johns Cancer Institute Receives the American Association in Cancer Research Award, 2024
Dr. Matias Bustos, an early cancer investigator and Assistant Professor at Saint John’s Cancer Institute, is a research scientist. Dr. Bustos advocates to improve oncologic patient healthcare and personalized medicine. Outlined at the AACR Award ceremony, “My translational research goals are committed to develop new potential blood-based and tissue biomarkers 1) to improve early detection of solid tumors 2) to monitor current available treatments and 3) to unravel regulatory pathways promoting drug resistance to therapies.”

The AACR (American Association for Cancer Research) held an award ceremony April 6-9,2024, in San Diego, CA.

The Minority & Minority-Serving Institution Faculty Scholar in Cancer Research Award, given by AACR, is to help, “increase the scientific knowledge base of minority faculty members and faculty members at minority-serving institutions, and to encourage them and their students to pursue careers in cancer research.”
