The Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center Opens Two New Clinical Trials for Adults with Non‑Small Cell Lung Cancer

The Merck TroFuse 023 and TroFuse 007 studies explore investigational combinations involving MK‑2870 and Pembrolizumab. MK-2870 (sacituzumab tirumotecan) is an investigational antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) being studied for cancer treatment.

What is the key difference between these two non-small cell lung cancer trials?

Both trials involve the use of MK-2870. TroFuse 023 adds MK‑2870 after chemotherapy; TroFuse 007 tests MK‑2870 from the start.

TroFuse 023 — After initial treatment

This study looks at MK‑2870 after chemotherapy plus pembrolizumab. Participants first receive standard treatment. The study then compares MK‑2870 + pembrolizumab to pembrolizumab alone to see which approach may help slow or stop the cancer.

TroFuse 007 — As part of first treatment

This study looks at MK‑2870 as part of your first treatment. It compares MK‑2870 + pembrolizumab to pembrolizumab alone to see whether starting with the combination may help slow or stop the cancer.

Karlton T. Wong, MD

Karlton Wong, MD, is a triple board-certified hematology oncologist who practices at the Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center, in Burbank, California. He received his medical degree from USC Keck School of Medicine, before completing his Internal Medicine Residency at the Los Angeles County USC Medical Center. Afterwards, he completed his Hematology-Oncology Fellowship at the UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center. Karlton Wong, MD, is a triple board-certified medical oncology, hematology, and internal medicine specialist who practices at the Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center, in Burbank, California.

Dr. Wong received his medical degree from USC Keck School of Medicine, before completing his Internal Medicine Residency at the Los Angeles County USC Medical Center. Afterwards, he completed his Hematology-Oncology Fellowship at the UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Wong has authored numerous scientific publications, presented research in international academic meetings, and has participated in professional organizations including the American Society of Hematology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
