Saint John’s Health Center Goes Pink in October!
The Margie Petersen Breast Center celebrates Breast Cancer Awareness month with a private gathering of patients and supporters in the Mullen Gardens at Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica. This year’s event honored caregivers of the breast oncology program, their new surgical oncology fellow, Dr. Nicketti Handy, who spoke at the event, and a number of cancer survivors.

It’s all about awareness and early screening
The event was held on September 29th, 2023 and featured several speakers including Dr. Janie Grumley, Breast Surgical Oncologist and Director of the Comprehensive Breast Program, Margie Petersen Breast Center, Dr. Crystal Fancher, Surgical Oncologist and Assistant Professor of Surgical Oncology, and Dr. Kim Bader, Associate Professor of Obstetrics/Gynecology KSOMr at LACUSC Keck School of Medicine—a patient of Dr. Grumley. Each year, the Margie Petersen Breast Center lights the hospital building pink during October.
Lighting Countdown
Throughout the month of October, the experts at Margie Petersen Breast center will also be featured in a multi-part video series aimed at providing advice and recommendations for a variety of breast related topics including screening and imaging, chemotherapy, surgical approaches, and nutrition. The series features Janie Grumley, MD, FACS, Parvin Peddi, MD, and Crystal Fancher, MD. Be sure to watch all the videos in the series this October, 2023 with additional videos published each week.
