Providence Saint John’s Health Center invites the community to Game Plan for Health: A Men’s Wellness Fair, a free, family-friendly event focused on men’s cancer awareness, prevention and lifelong wellness.

Join us Saturday, August 29, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Providence Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica for an afternoon of education, connection and fun for the whole family.

 

Good health starts with a good game plan.

At our Men’s Wellness Fair, guests will have an opportunity to meet trusted health experts, explore educational booths and connect with resources designed to help men and their families make informed decisions about their health. From prevention and screenings to nutrition and healthy habits, the event offers practical information that can help men take a more active role in their health and well-being.

There will also be plenty for families to enjoy throughout the afternoon. Fair-inspired attractions include a Ferris wheel, dunk tank, kid-friendly games, opportunity drawings and more, creating a welcoming community setting where conversations about health can happen alongside an afternoon of family fun.

The event also reflects Providence Saint John’s commitment to supporting patients and families beyond their medical treatment. Shanthi Gowrinathan, MD, Psychiatrist specializing in psycho-oncology and Director of Psycho-Oncology and Cancer Support Services, has played a pivotal role in developing and promoting the Men’s Wellness Fair through Cancer Support Services. Gifted with the strong ability to empathetically connect with her patients quickly, Dr. Gowrinathan is proficient at diagnosing and treating psychiatric disease in the context of complex medical issues such as cancer diagnosis.

Dr. Gowrinathan and her team provide support to Saint John’s patients across all cancer types, helping women and men navigate the emotional, psychological and practical challenges that can accompany a cancer diagnosis and treatment. She will be on hand at the event to connect with patients, families and members of the community.

Dr. Mehran Movassaghi, Director of Men’s Health at Providence Saint John’s Health Center and Assistant Professor of Urologic Oncology at Saint John’s Cancer Institute, encourages men and their families to take advantage of the opportunity to connect directly with health experts. As he shares in his invitation to the community, the event is designed to bring people together for “an afternoon of fun, education, and being part of our wonderful community.”

Dr. Movassaghi is a member of the American Urological Association, the Endourological Society and the Society for Sexual Medicine in North America. He sits on the executive board for the American Society for Men’s Health. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in the areas of endourology, quality of life and integrative medicine and he is the founder of the Los Angeles Prostate Cancer 5K.
