Alexa has a strong interdisciplinary background in biology and bioinformatics, with a passion for applying computational tools to address complex biological questions. She earned a bachelor’s degree in biology, during which she spent four years as a research assistant in a marine ecology lab studying long-term ecological processes. At the same time, she gained experience in a computational biology lab, sparking a lasting interest in data-driven research.
Alexa went on to earn a master’s degree in bioinformatics, where she developed expertise in genomic data analysis and pipeline development. Beyond her academic training, she has worked as a clinical research coordinator and laboratory technician in a biorepository, supporting translational research through the management and analysis of clinical samples.
With a strong foundation in both wet-lab and computational methods, Alexa is committed to advancing healthcare solutions through her work at Saint John’s Cancer Institute.
