Corey Hounschell, DO

Donald L. Morton Complex General Surgical Oncology Fellowship

Dr. Corey Hounschell earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Kansas City University and recently completed his general surgery residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident for Quality Improvement. He is currently a fellow in Complex General Surgical Oncology at Providence St. John’s Cancer Institute in Santa Monica, CA. Dr. Hounschell has published research in Cancers, American Journal of Surgery, and Anesthesia, with a focus on surgical oncology, breast cancer, and perioperative outcomes. He has presented at national and international conferences including the Society of Surgical Oncology and the Connective Tissue Oncology Society. His leadership includes co-founding a nonprofit in Malawi and mentoring medical students through multiple institutional programs. Dr. Hounchell’s academic interests include surgical oncology, global health, and medical education.
