Dr. Corey Hounschell earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Kansas City University and completed his general surgery residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident for Quality Improvement. He is currently a fellow in Complex General Surgical Oncology at Providence Saint John’s Cancer Institute in Santa Monica, California
Dr. Hounschell’s clinical and research interests focus on the surgical management of metastatic and locally advanced gastrointestinal malignancies and peritoneal surface disease. His academic work parallels his clinical interests, emphasizing outcomes research and quality metrics in surgical oncology, with publications in Annals of Surgical Oncology, American Journal of Surgery and Cancers. He has presented his work at national and international meetings including the Society of Surgical Oncology, American Society of Breast Surgeons and Connective Tissue Oncology Society.
