Cancer Support and Survivorship

Joseph Greenberg is a licensed clinical social worker and has worked in the field of medical social work since 2013. His clinical interests involve applying modalities of cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness meditation techniques and other forms of supportive therapy. In his role as a part of the multidisciplinary cancer treatment team, he provides psychosocial support services to patients and their family members to help individuals cope through diagnosis, the challenges of treatment, and into survivorship. Joseph aims to accomplish this through providing one on one support as well as strategic resource referral for needs that often come up with life changing diagnoses.

He graduated from University of Washington majoring in psychology and later obtained his Master of Social Work degree from University of Southern California. He had a one year-long academic internship at the Simms/Mann UCLA Center for Integrative Oncology, working with adult oncology patients there. He then began work at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, spending two years working with patients and families in the Division of Medical Genetics. He then returned to oncology social work, spending the next two and half years working in the Blood and Marrow Transplantation Center at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, working with patients and families there.
