Palliative Care

Palliative and Hospice Care is available when life expectancy is six months or less and a patient has made the decision to stop actively treating a serious illness, in this case cancer.

Palliative and Hospice care are focused on improving quality of life and comfort. Studies have shown that with relief of symptoms, patients can have prolonged survival and family support. Palliative and Hospice care utilize a team-based approach and can be received at home, hospital, outpatient clinic, and other settings.

The services are covered under Medicare Hospice Benefit, Medicaid Hospice Benefit and most private insurances. Many patients opt to receive hospice care in their homes.
