Research Lab
Dr. Osita Onugha is the director of Thoracic Surgery Research Lab and the creator of the Surgical Innovation Lab at the Saint John’s Cancer Institute. The thoracic surgery research program is dedicated to novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for cancer, through clinical and translational research. Current projects include the uses of diagnostic perioperative and postoperative wearable technology, three-dimensional printing for chest wall reconstruction after surgical resection, and the role of novel circulating tumor DNA (liquid biopsy) in lung cancer. The Thoracic Surgery Research Lab is also currently involved in clinical trials for patients in all stages of lung and esophageal cancer.
